Most mosques in Dubai do not allow non-Muslims inside, but at Jumeirah, it is allowed. Rich and colorful inside with detailed painted panels and bright backgrounds this mosque is beautiful. Traditional Muslim dress code is enforced if you want to enter, so pants and long sleeves for men are a must and women will have to cover their heads with a scarf.
- The Dubai Fountain- Located at the base of the Burj Khalifa is the world’s largest choreographed fountain system. Most people think of Las Vegas’ Bellagio water fountain show, but this dwarfs that show. Water is sprayed 150 meters in the air accompanied by a colorful light show. The dancing water has numerous sets to different music from around the world. Take an evening display in as they begin at sundown and occur every 30 minutes.
- The Dubai Mall- With some of the scorching temperatures outside you can understand why the Dubai Mall was built. However, they went all out here. To even call it a “mall” is a little bit of a disservice. It houses over 1,200 shops and 150 restaurants and includes an indoor park, a waterfall, an ice rink, and numerous fountains. It is home to the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.
- Dubai Marina- Another man-made spectacle in Dubai. If they don’t have one, they build one in Dubai and typically bigger and better than anywhere else. Money is not an issue in Dubai at the world’s largest man-made marina. It provides great views of some of the world’s tallest apartment buildings, not to mention some of the most beautiful and expensive yachts are docked here. - Palm Jumeirah- Go big or go home seems to be the theme in Dubai. This is one of the largest artificial islands in the world. It’s a man-made island in the shape of a palm tree. Situated on many of the “branches” of the palm tree are many of Dubai’s luxury hotels like the Waldorf Astoria, the Fairmont, and the iconic Atlantis The Palm. There is a monorail running through the middle of the island which connects to the mainland’s tram system, so it is incredibly easy to get here.
- The Arabian Desert- One of the more amazing things in Dubai is that with all the abundance of wealth, the luxury high-rises, the man-made phenomenon at every turn, is that you forget you are only 20 minutes away from a vast barren desert. You can experience a desert safari, off-roading in a quad, or participate in sandboarding. You can also do a traditional barbeque or experience a camel ride. Another option is to just drive out and experience the wonder of the desert on your own.
- Madinat Jumeirah- Literally translated to the City of Jumeirah, this complex is inspired by an ancient citadel. Now it includes luxury hotels and private homes built in the traditional Arabic style. It is home to the world-class Talise Spa, the Madinat Souk, Madinat Theatre, and lots of restaurants and cafes. You can also explore on traditional wooden boats which are a great way to get around and view the city.
