First class cabin amenities will help you arrive at your destination feeling relaxed and refreshed. The list of luxuries offered in the first class cabin extends beyond a larger, first class seat. First class cabin amenities include five-star cuisine, privacy partitions, a first class seat that transforms into a bed, and excellent customer service. First class travel is becoming increasingly popular as travelers who are short on time are looking to maximize their vacation days by arriving at their destination feeling refreshed rather than jetlagged from a long coach flight. Additonally, air carriers continue to add first class amenities and improve the first class seat in an effort to attract new customers.

First Class Amenities at the Airport

American Airlines offers Flagship First, their version of first class service, which is available on domestic and international flights. The air carrier offers first class amenities at airports which include an exclusive check-in area where first class passengers receive personalized assistance and expedited security access. Flagship First check-in services are available on qualifying international and transcontinental flights. Flights between the U.S. and Asia, Australia, Europe, and  South America also offer the Flagship First program and services. This expedited service is available on transcontinental flights with 3-class non-stop flights between New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX) and JFK and San Francisco (SFO).

First class passengers also receive greater carry-on and checked-in luggage allowances. If you tend to pack a little more than you need, these added allowances can make packing much easier. Baggage allowances vary based on your aircraft, destination, and season. Check the American Airlines website for requirements before booking your trip.

American Airline’s Flagship First allows passengers access to the Flagship Lounges at the airport. The lounges are a great way to escape the noise and chaos of the airport. These lounges offer gourmet meals and snacks, wine and cocktails, and several desserts. You can sit at a table, enjoy a drink at the bar, or relax in a recliner. If you have work to finish, projects, or emails that need to be sent before your flight, there are workspaces at the lounges too. You can recharge your electronic devices or read a newspaper. The attendant at the lounge will check you in and also keep track of any changes to your flight. There are spa-like restrooms where you can shower if you’d like and the restrooms are stocked with high-end toiletry products, so you can leave the lounge feeling pampered and ready to begin your vacation.

First class passengers have access to the Flagship Lounges on qualifying international and transcontinental flights between the U.S. and Asia, Australia, Central America, Europe, Mexico City (MEX), New Zealand, and South America. First class passengers can access the lounges on qualifying transcontinental flights that are non-stop between New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX) and JFK and San Francisco (SFO). First class passengers can bring one guest into the lounge with them, children over 2 count as a guest.

First Class Cabin Amenities and First Class Seats

Seats in the first class cabin transform into a fully-flat bed that is made up with fine linens and pillows. The seat measures 38 inches wide with a seat pitch of 21 inches. First class passengers receive a Cole Haan amenity kit with travel essentials from leading skincare and lifestyle brands C.O. Bigelow and Cole Haan. First class passengers also receive a Casper sleep set with pajamas, slippers, mattress pads, pillows, and blankets.

The first class seating areas vary based on your aircraft, but regardless of your aircraft, American Airlines always provides first class passengers with extra space and a lot of privacy so you can sleep soundly during your flight. There is always ample room to store your personal belongings and seats are equipped with in-seat power sources in first class.

American Airlines has forged partnerships with well-known chefs to ensure a gourmet menu that features regional dishes, traditional main courses and is always made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Additionally, American Airlines allows first class passengers to decide when they want to enjoy their meal. Meals are multi-course and completed with exclusive award-winning wines. American offers expanded menus and personalized services too. First class passengers will find menus vary depending on when and where you’re traveling.

American premium cabins are stocked with a variety of complimentary beers, wines, and spirits curated to perfectly complement the in-flight menu. Wines are selected through an extremely selective process as part of American’s award-winning wine program.
