About All Nippon

All Nippon Airways or ANA is one of the two main carriers in Japan. It was established in 1952 by the Government of Japan.  It is Japan’s largest airline with more than 250 airplanes and serves 50 million passengers a year. ANA’s largest competitor is Japan Airlines. It is one of only nine airlines to hold Skytrax’s five-star designation which is their highest rating. They fly to 49 different airports in Japan and have 32 international routes to places like the United States, Canada, Germany, France, UK, and Asia. They fly a wide variety of Airbus and Boeing planes.  Besides their five-star ranking, they have been ranked in the Top 10 best airlines for the last three consecutive years. They have a 7 out of 7 safety ranking. They are part of the Star Alliance network which they joined in 1999.

All Nippon Airways was the first airline to launch the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. They created a “Let’s Do Japan” campaign allowing visitors to create their own Japanese manga personality and learn about Japan. ANA is hoping to attract U.S. consumers with this campaign. Another feature of the website allows users to learn more about Japanese culture and traditions.

ANA is the eighth largest airline in the world for revenues and the largest in Japan. ANA has 33,000 employees and operates just over 1,000 flights a day. They have more than 24 million members in their frequent flyer program which is called ANA Mileage Club. ANA was voted the Airline of the Year in 2013 by Air Transport World Magazine.

In addition to the ANA brand, All Nippon Airways has several subsidiary passenger carriers including its regional airline ANA Wings and charter carrier called Air Japan. They also own a low-cost carrier called Air Do which flies from Tokyo and cities in Hokkaido. Another low-cost carrier they own is Vanilla Air which focuses on resort destinations like Honolulu. They offer a carrier service and a joint venture with Sojitz for private jet charter flights.
