Aircraft and Fleets

Lufthansa offers first class service on their 747-8 aircraft which feature innovative insulation, soundproofing curtains, and natural light. Each seat comes equipped with a privacy screen, adjustable seat, and moveable ottoman. The extra-wide seat is ergonomically designed, two-meters long, and includes a mattress. The first class beds are made up with a climate-regulating duvet and elegant covers. The first class cabins utilize adjustable lighting perfect for relaxed reading, working, or watching a movie. The first class cabin provides ample storage room and enough space to move about easily. Your seating area also comes with an entertainment system and integrated game console, a table, and a charging station.

The first class cabins on the A380-800 provide a generous sense of space Because Lufthansa removed the overhead bin storage containers. This aircraft is equipped with soundproof curtains, adjustable window screens, a reading lamp, a separate night lamp, and an ergonomically designed adjustable seat. The first class seats on the A380-800 transform into a two-meter-long bed and are made up with high-quality sheets and a duvet. There is enough space to work, stow your belongings, and enjoy your meal at your seat. A fully integrated entertainment system is also available.

Onboard the Lufthansa A340-600, A340-300, and A330-300 long-haul jets, first class passengers enjoy a seat that converts into a fully flat bed, luxury sheets and blankets, soundproof curtains, a personal 17-inch monitor, a variety of entertainment choices, Bose noise-canceling headphones, and an elegant bathroom.

 

All first class passengers onboard a Lufthansa flights receive an amenity kit and an assortment of high-quality toiletries to make their flight more enjoyable.

Food and beverages are carefully curated for first class passengers. Lufthansa offers four red and white wine from the world’s most popular growing regions. The wine selection changes each month and is selected by a world champion sommelier.

Lufthansa History

Lufthansa is the largest airline company in Europe. They offer 18 flights to different locations within Germany and 193 international destinations in 81 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe. They have 267 airplanes registered under their name.

Their longest flight is a 14-hour flight from Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) to Buenos Aires. Their second longest flight is 12 hours and 15 minutes and is from Frankfurt(FRA) to Singapore (SIN). This compares with the longest flight in the world which is 16 hours and 55 minutes and is from Sydney to Dallas on Air Qantas.

Lufthansa is the largest operator of the 747-8 airplane which is the longest aircraft in the world. They own twenty of these brand new jumbo planes. Most airlines are moving away from this plane but Lufthansa was the first to purchase a 747 and continues the tradition with their recent large purchase.

Lufthansa was the first airline to offer wi-fi to its passengers back in 2004. Now, almost every airline offers wi-fi but Lufthansa was the first. Lufthansa is the largest purchaser of caviar in the world. It purchases an incredible 10 tons of caviar every year for its business and first class passengers. This is all distributed through LSG Sky Chefs which is the biggest airline caterer in the world and is a subsidiary of the airline itself.

Lufthansa operates out of Frankfurt International Airport. It is their main hub and is one of the busiest airports in the world. Frankfurt International Airport serves 264 destinations in 113 countries which makes it the airport with the most international destinations in the world.

Lufthansa was the official airline of the German World Cup soccer team in 2014. When the German team won the World Cup Final, all the German players were brought back to Berlin on a Lufthansa flight. The flight was broadcast live on TV and seen by millions of Germans.

Lufthansa was one of the five founding members of the Star Alliance Member program along with Thai Airways, Air Canada, United, and Scandinavian airlines. There are currently 28 other airline members around the world. The five triangles in the Star Alliance logo represent the five founding members. Some of Lufthansa’s most popular routes are Munich from Edinburgh, Geneva from London and Vienna from Manchester.
